Story:

Nandan “One Shot nandu” Kamtekar(Neil Nitin Mukesh) is someone who makes money through an illegal fight club headed by Usman Bhai(Piyush Mishra). He is famous for playing blindfolded and knocking down his oppenents in a single shot. Pinky Palkar(Deepika Padukone) is a wannabe roller skate dancer who dreams about making it in the – now famous – India’s got talent show on TV. In a chance encounter, Nandu accidentally knocks down Pinky while driving a car and Pinky looses her vision. Nandu gets a major guilty conscience and decides he will teach Pinky to use her other senses sharply so that she never feels the loss. Fate, however has something different in store for them.

Critics Comments:

Pradeep Sarkar, as a director, is famous for giving author based roles and making women-centric films. Lafangey Parindey, is thankfully, devoured of the song and dance sequence. The concept is interesting (Never mind if its inspired from The Rajesh Khanna Starrer classic, Dushman) and the star cast is good too. But the dialogues are very irritating. No one actually speaks in street Lingos like the way its shown in the movie. It is absolutely artificial. When you have talented actors, you are wasting their talent by actually making them speak such laughable one liners. Many people have criticized Neil Nitin Mukesh for not being convincing as a street alec. However, more than the actors, its the script writer who is to be blamed. Would give this one 2 stars out of 6 only for the performance of Deepika Padukone. This one is just a one time watch for the concept.

Lafangey Parindey: Movie Trivia & Facts

1) In the scene where Deepika Padukone is shown eating golas, she had to eat nearly 10 golas to get the 10 second scene right. Needless to say she got a hoarse throat and Neil Nitin Mukesh publicly said she sounded like Amitabh Bachchan after that.

2) Most of the dance scenes are actually performed by Deepika Padukone and Neil Nitin Mukesh.

Quotes from the Movie:

1) “Tujhe maalum hai to dekhna kyon seekhegey ? Kyonki tere ko ladna solid aata hai.”

Errors in the Script/Screenplay:

1) In the movie, Neil Nitin Mukesh fights and gets royally punched with blood coming out. Still we seem him without bruises in all his subsequent scenes.

2) Deepika Padukone got major bruises after the accident and is even shown in a coma. Yet when she recovers (and that too in 15 days – gasp gasp) she is without any bruises. No amount of make up could ever hide that.

Lafangey Parindey | First Day, Last Show Report

Movie: Lafangey Parindey

Director: Pradeep Sarkar

Cast: Deepika Padukone, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sudhir Mishra

Coming to think of it now, I don’t know why I was so excited about the movie – so much so that I ensured that I saw it on the first day itself, without the mind getting tampered by sundry expert and friendly reviews. I am not a big fan of either of Neil or Deepika. Sudhir Mishra is a great act but then I didn’t even know till I reached the theatre that he was a part of the cast.

I think it was the name – Lafangey Parindey – that did it. Somewhere the name caught me, thrilled some of my easily excitable cells, I guess. There was something immediately irreverential and attractive about the name. Something Anurag Kashyapish…

Well, whatever it was, it was wrong as hell.

It’s a bad movie. With no high points whatsoever. I don’t think there was any doubt about it even 10 minutes into the movie that this was going to be one big disappointment.

Probably if Kay Kay Menon had hung on for another thirty minutes more, the movie may have survived better. But once he died, so did the movie. Not that there was much life before that. But there was hope at the least…

The storyline is pathetically ancient and uninspiring. And boringly predictable after the first 15 minutes.

Nor does the script salvage the story. There are a few funny attempts at creating great dialogues. But they fall flat on the face.

” Dard aur Mard mein sirf Da aur Ma ka fark hai. Da aur Ma ko milao to hota hai Dum. “

No one has acted badly but you can safely give this one a miss. Rather watch Peepli Live or Inception a second time.

The Expendables - A Theatrical Release Poster

Story:

A group of mercenaries, called as The Expendables have a mission in Somalia to free hostages from Somali Pirates. The team consists of Barney(Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas(Jason Statham), Yin (Jet Li), Gunnar((Dolph Lundgren), Hale(Terry Crews) and Toll(Randy Couture). They successfully release the hostages after killing all the pirates. In the process, Barney asks Gunnar to stop being a part of the mission due to his psychological problems. When the team comes back home, Barney gets another mission from their boss, Mr Church(Bruce Willis). The mission is to go to a Vilena(A fictional South American Country) and overthrow dictator, General Garza(David Zayas). When they land there, they get in contact with the local lead, Sandra(Gisele ItiĆ©). They learn that the dictator is just a puppet under the hands of ex-CIA henchman, James Munore(Eric Roberts) who wants to use Vilena as a major drugs plantation centre. Now the mission is to ensure everyone of Garza and Munor’s men are killed.

Critic’s Comments:

One of the most eagerly awaited film of the year would have many expectations. If its coming from someone like Sylvester Stallone, the expectations are bound to be Sky High. First the good points. This is Stallone’s tribute the good old action movies of the 1980s and early 90′s. The movie is extremely fast paced and the action sequences are superb and very hard. For all ye Stallone fans, the movie is a treat. But sadly, in the process of making a blockbuster, a few things went wrong as well. The Cinematography by Jeffrey Kimball is pathetic. The movie was marketed as Starring Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke but their roles are cameos. While Willis is there only for 1 scene, Rourke is there only for a couple of them. Even the cameo by Arnold Schwarzenegger feels forced. The least Stallone could have done is ensured that Bruce Willis and Rourke get meaty roles. Now hopefully there will be a sequel and all of them who had cameos will have full fledged roles. I would give this movie, 4 stars out of 6 only for being a pure no-nonsense entertainer.

The Expendables: Movie Trivia & Facts

1) Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagel were offered roles in the movie but they declined.

2) Arnold Schwarzenegger was meant to play the role of Mr Church but he declined and decided to play the role of rival Mercenary, Trench. Willis, Schwarzenegger and Stallone have just 1 scene together in the movie, but that scene forms the plot of the film. That one scene took 6 hours to shoot.

3) Kurt Russel was offered the role of Trench but he declined.

4) This is Schwarzenegger’s first film in 6 years.

5) The budget of the movie increased from $60 million to $80 million. It grossed $13 million in the opening day and $35 million in the opening weekend, worldwide.

6) Wesley Snipes, Forest Whitaker and 50 Cent were offered the role of Hale but they had to decline.

Notable Quotes from the Movie:

1) “What’s his problem ? He is running for the President.”

2) “Who sent you? Your hairdresser.”

3) “Only thing you need to know is the job’s real, and the money’s real.”

4) “What’s wrong with this picture? Everything.”

5) “We are the shadow, the smoke in your eyes, the ghosts that hide in the night.”

6) “Great, they got a small army. What have we got? Four and a half men.”

Errors in the Script/Screenplay:

None that I could notice.
